MarginMark privacy policy
This policy explains what information the MarginMark Chrome extension and account service collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. MarginMark is made by Plainsman Software ("we", "us").
1. The short version
- MarginMark reads TikTok Shop Seller Center pages only when you open them, to calculate profit on your products.
- Imported statements, creator order files and your weekly history stay on your computer.
- We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't let people read it except as described below.
- You can delete your account, and its data, at any time from inside the extension.
2. What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Account details: your email address, an optional name, and your password (stored only as a secure hash) | To create your account, verify your email, sign you in and contact you about your account. |
| Plan and billing status: your plan, trial and renewal dates, and Stripe customer and subscription IDs | To know which features you've paid for. Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your full card number. |
| Seller Center page information on pages you open: product names, product IDs, prices and promotion prices, and your shop's account health and Shop Performance metrics | To show profit and account health in the MarginMark panel. |
| Information you enter: product costs and settings | To calculate your profit and keep your settings. |
| Support messages: your email address, your message and, if you choose, page details (extension version, page type and whether a price was read) | To answer you and fix problems. Page details never include your costs or profit. |
| Technical and usage information: errors, extension version, browser type, the features you use, and server logs with your IP address | To keep MarginMark working, prevent abuse and decide what to improve. |
MarginMark doesn't collect your TikTok password, your browsing history outside Seller Center, your buyers' personal information, or the contents of your Seller Center messages.
3. What stays on your computer
These are stored in your browser's extension storage on your computer and aren't uploaded to us:
- settlement statements you import;
- affiliate (creator) order files you import;
- the weekly numbers used for your recap.
Uninstalling the extension or clearing its data removes them.
4. How we use information
We use it only to provide, secure, support and improve MarginMark; to process payments and send account and billing emails; and to meet legal obligations. We don't send marketing emails unless you've agreed to receive them, and every one includes a way to stop.
5. Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that run parts of MarginMark for us, under contracts that limit how they use it:
- Stripe, for payments and subscriptions;
- Fly.io, for application hosting;
- Neon, for our database;
- Google Workspace, for sending and receiving email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. If that happens, this policy will continue to apply.
6. Chrome Web Store limited use
MarginMark's use of information received from Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this data only to provide and improve MarginMark's single purpose: showing TikTok Shop sellers the profit on their products. We don't transfer it to others except as described in this policy, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
7. How long we keep it
- We keep account information while your account is open.
- When you delete your account, we delete your account data within 30 days. Backups expire within a further 30 days.
- We keep billing records as long as tax law requires, which is usually seven years.
- Support messages are kept for up to two years.
- Server logs are kept for up to 90 days.
8. Your choices and rights
- Change your email or password, or sign out of every device, from the account screen in MarginMark.
- Delete your account from the account screen, or email privacy@plainsmansoftware.com.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or for us to correct it, at privacy@plainsmansoftware.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the GDPR. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, restricted access to production systems, and two-factor authentication on our own accounts. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
10. Children
MarginMark is for business sellers and isn't directed to anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
11. This website
plainsmansoftware.com uses no cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Our host may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we'll email you or show a notice in MarginMark before it takes effect.
